Another thing to consider is verifying that you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card. The Nancy Drew Mystery Stories is the main Nancy Drew series, but there are numerous other series including Girl Detective and the current Nancy Drew Diaries series. That can cause an older version of Direct X to interfere with the latest version which is already installed with your Windows 10 operating system.

Make sure you opt not to install Direct X during the game installation. Were you still having issues? I myself just upgraded to Windows 10 and wanted to let you know that Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake works fine on my laptop, so it's not Windows 10.

I ran the DOG installer on compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME, installed to a folder of my creation, and then attempted to run the game in compatibility mode as well. I thought that maybe I just needed to reinstall, so I tried that. I had all the games installed using all the different tricks: compatibility mode, using a folder created prior to installation, etc. Game shutting down." Not exactly what I had in mind. Everything went smoothly, but when I went to play some of my older games (I didn't test them all, but DED worked while DOG did not) I was met with a white screen and an error message reading "InitDirectDraw - we're sorry - your system cannot play the correct display mode for this game. I didn't anticipate any issues since all programs that work on Windows 7/8 were supposed to work on Windows 10 as well. So I upgraded my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 today. Hi all! It's been a while! I've been so busy I just haven't had time to get on here.
